Prof David Katerere
David R. Katerere is a professor and researcher at Tshwane University Technology, Department of Pharmaceutical Science with a particular interest in novel foods and product development embedded in indigenous plant / crop resources. He works in a multi-disciplinary team with highly rated young scientists with experience in food biotechnology, product development and regulatory sciences. He is also the co-founder of Nutritica SA, a food innovation company founded in 2018. Established as a Tshwane University of Technology spin-off, Nutritica aims to formulate food and beverage products which are burnished in tradition and informed by science for good nutrition and health for all. The company’s market entry strategy is to start with the production of a “Niselo” Sorghum beverage drink, the development of which was funded through the support of a BioFISA II grant.
