Students from all countries in Africa are invited to participate in the 2020 edition of FACES: African Student Cellphone Film Competition. The competition, which is now in its fourth year, has since 2017 awarded winners with incredible prizes (which included cash prizes and all expenses paid trip to Mauritius).
The purpose of the competition is to encourage students from Africa to express themselves and to engage with issues of relevance to Africa, using available cellphone technology. Registered undergraduate and postgraduate students from all tertiary institutions in Africa are invited to participate in the FACES 2020: African Student Cellphone Film Competition.
This year we have introduced the following theme for the competition: Technology and its impact on human rights.
All entries must interpret the theme and keep to the allocated time limit of a maximum of 3 minutes.
This year, the top three winners will be receiving cash prizes as follows:
R10 000: First prize to winning film
R5 000: Best storyline highlighting human rights challenges
R5 000: Best cinematography prize
How to enter
Films should be uploaded to YouTube/Vimeo and submitted via the online form before 15 November 2020.
