Charles is the founder of Akili Labs, NOOTRO and Trade Africa Healthcare where he focuses on using innovative solutions to solve real world problems through Biotechnology and Computer Science to rapidly prototype and implement agile solutions. Charles studied Software development at Nelson Mandela University after which he studied Biotechnology at Rhodes University where he started working on solutions such as Field Lab to improve medical diagnostics in rural areas. He won the best prototype Award at Innovation Bridge 2017, GAP BioSciences First Prize 2017 and other awards for innovation and entrepreneurship. His innovations have drawn the attention of the global health community including The Red Cross, UNICEF and research institutes from across the world.
Charles enjoys assisting others in innovating and advancing innovative entrepreneurship in Africa and frequently consults on how best to promote innovation. Recently Charles was awarded the Mandela Washington Fellowship and was listed as one of Mail and Guardians Top 200 Young South Africans.
