She has an idea to formulate functional foods using bioactive Lentinulaedodes (Shiitake) with protective effects against gastrointestinal bacteria common in Zimbabwe. Production of exotic medicinal mushroom in Zimbabwe will facilitate local and regional trade. Processing of mushroom will facilitate development of functional foods with both nutritional and health benefits. The fact that microorganism are drastically developing resistance to drugs, there is a necessity of developing new pharmacological strategies to complement healthcare.
