We are immensely excited to officially unveil the collaboration of NEPAD SANBio and Hivos for the upcoming FemBioBiz Acceleration Program Season 3. The collaboration will accelerate and scale the program and its outreach for the upcoming period.
The FemBioBiz Acceleration Programme is designed to contribute to the support of entrepreneurial women in the bioscience industry. With a unique ecosystem approach, it increases awareness of and employability for women with potential careers in entrepreneurship and the biosciences sector.
It does so with support of in-country incubators, government, financial institutions, (impact) investors, CSOs and research institutions that collectively pushes for a more inclusive and investable entrepreneurship ecosystem in the SADC-region. Additionally, the program creates a network of talented women bio-entrepreneurs with improved access to knowledge, markets and finance.
For FemBioBiz Season 2 over 500 applications were received from 10 countries. Over 150 of the applicants were selected for Phase 1, with 90 of them going through to Phase 2. In the final phase, 32 finalists from 10 countries pitched at the Regional Grand Finale at the SA Innovation Summit and 6 finalists got an opportunity to attend one of Europe’s leading startup event SLUSH2018!
